Brandon Weeden

*Weeden has no chance of losing his job right now despite mixed results in the pre-season.
*Despite the fact that he has never really succeeded on the field, the Browns front office is smitten with Hoyer. He’s listed behind Campbell at the moment but could end up overtaking him.

RUNNING BACK
Trent Richardson (shin) (GLB, 3DB)

———Chris Ogbonnaya
———Dennis Johnson

*Richardson is to be the workhorse back this year, and his rib injuries from last season are fully healed. The shin injury is a minor one, and he could play with it if he had to.
*Hardesty and Lewis have both been placed on IR, turning a position of strength into a weakness.
*Bobby Rainey was claimed off waivers from Baltimore and should be expected to contribute right away in the backup rotation at RB with the release of Brandon Jackson.
*Both Rainey and Dennis Johnson should be able to help the Browns in the return game.

WIDE RECEIVER
LWR Josh Gordon (suspension – out until Week 3)

RWR Greg Little
———Devone Bess (WR3)
———Josh Cooper

*Gordon’s suspension leaves the Browns very thin at WR the first two weeks; he is definitely their most talented wideout.
*Despite his hard hands, Little is coming on strong in his third season. His route-running and work ethic has improved, and he may be a savvy late-round target.
*Bess is a third down conversion machine, and he’ll occupy the slot in a lot of those situations.
*Cooper beat out veterans like Norwood and Nelson to secure the final WR spot. He has legitimate chemistry with Weeden after playing with him in college.

TIGHT END
Jordan Cameron
———Gary Barnidge
———MarQueis Gray
———Keavon Milton

*Jordan Cameron is a favorite breakout pick at TE, as the Chud/Turner offense should feature the position; his play in preseason game #2 is making him less of a hidden sleeper.
*The Browns released Kellen Davis after the cut deadline and added MarQueis Gray and Keavon Milton off waivers. Gray is more of a developmental prospect and Milton’s contributions should come more as a blocker. Neither should be a factor in fantasy.

KICKER

NONE
———Billy Cundiff
———Georgio Tavecchio

*Surprisingly, after neither kicker impressed in the pre-season, both Shayne Graham and Brandon Bogotay were cut. Dan Carpenter was supposed to come in and try out with Cundiff but apparently will be signing with Buffalo. Georgio Tavecchio was then added to the competition and there could be more as well. While at this point, I’d expect Cundiff to come away with it with Carpenter out of the picture, both of these guys lost a competition this off-season.
