QUARTERBACK
Alex Smith
———Chase Daniel
———Tyler Bray

*The Chiefs love Smith, but in reality he’s not a huge upgrade over Matt Cassel.
*Rookie Bray has a ton of physical upside and made the team over weak armed Stanzi.

RUNNING BACK
Jamaal Charles (foot) (3DB, GLB)
———Knile Davis
———Cyrus Gray

*The kid gloves are finally off for Charles; he is all alone for carries in the backfield. Andy Reid’s WC offense and weak-armed Alex Smith mean many more catches this year, too.
*The foot “injury” is much ado about nothing; it is the mildest of sprains, but it gives the Chiefs an excuse to sit their bellcow out of the rest of the preseason games.
*Cyrus Gray ended up beating Shaun Draughn out for the #3 spot on the roster but doesn’t carry much fantasy value unless Charles goes down.

WIDE RECEIVER
LWR Dwayne Bowe
———Dexter McCluster (WR3)
———Junior Hemingway

RWR Donnie Avery
———A.J. Jenkins
———Chad Hall

*With Baldwin shipped out of town in a bust exchange for A.J. Jenkins, Donnie Avery has assumed the starting role opposite Bowe. He hasn’t done much this pre-season but Reid seems committed to him for the time being.
*The coaches want to work in McCluster a lot more, but his diminutive size makes it tough to use him as a wideout often.

TIGHT END
Anthony Fasano
———Travis Kelce
———Kevin Brock

*Free agent acquisition Fasano has grabbed the top spot by default.
*Tony Moeaki is headed to IR after fracturing his shoulder.
*Rookie Kelce has great offensive upside, but his blocking needs a lot of work.

KICKER
Ryan Succop

*The Chiefs did not bring anyone in to compete with Succop for his job.
